Curbside Cart Collection Program
The CurbsideCart Collection Program in Amarillo aims to enhance trash collection services by introducing a more efficient and convenient system. Under this program, residents who previously relied on manual garbage collection now receive a durable 95-gallon CurbsideCart. This cart is equipped with attached lids and wheels for effortless mobility.
How does the Curbside Cart Collection Program work?
The Curbside Cart Collection Program provides residents with a durable 95-gallon Curbside Cart equipped with attached lids and wheels for convenient mobility. Instead of manual garbage collection, a truck-based approach is utilized. An employee operates a mechanical arm from inside the truck, lifting and emptying the Curbside Cart, ensuring quicker and cost-effective trash collection.
How should I place my Curbside Cart for collection?
To optimize collection efficiency, place the cart near the curb with the handle facing the curb and the arrows on the lid pointing towards the street. Allow at least three feet of clearance around the cart for easy collection. Avoid placing the cart near low-hanging tree limbs or obstructions. Keep the lid closed and refrain from placing additional trash bags on top of or next to the cart.
What should I do if I need assistance with my Curbside Cart or require an additional cart?
For assistance with cart placement or to request an additional cart, contact the City of Amarillo’s Solid Waste office at 806-378-6813 or via email at COAPublicWorks@amarillo.gov.
What is the pickup frequency for the Curbside Cart Collection Program?
Trucks collect trash twice a week. Adjustments are made for holidays and in the event of inclement weather.
What should I do if my Curbside Cart is not emptied?
If your cart is not emptied, please call 806-378-6813 to report missed service.
Can I dispose of big and bulky items using the Curbside Cart Collection Program?
If items are too large for the cart(s), residents can schedule free curbside bulk item pickup or take items to the landfill. For more information, contact the City of Amarillo’s Solid Waste office at 806-378-6813.
Are there any prohibited items for disposal in the Curbside Cart?
Prohibited items such as hot ashes, coals, concrete, tires, or heavy items that make the cart too heavy to lift should not be placed in the cart.
Can I opt for a Roll Out Service for my Curbside Cart?
Residents can opt for a fee-based Roll Out Service if assistance is needed in transferring the cart to the curb each week. For more information, please contact Solid Waste Services.
