Welcome to the City of Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office. We are responsible for preventing fires within the Amarillo city limits through inspections, compliance, investigations, and public education.

Our personnel are certified Fire Inspectors by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, conducting inspections across the city to ensure Fire Code compliance and providing safe environments for building occupants.

We also have personnel certified as Peace Officers by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, who are additionally certified as Fire Investigators and Arson Investigators through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. They investigate fires to determine their origin and cause and carry out criminal investigations for fire-related incidents, including those involving injuries or fatalities.

Fire Watch

A Fire Watch is a temporary measure to ensure a continuous and systematic surveillance of a building when the building or facilities fire protection system(s); i.e. Fire Suppression System, Fire Alarm System or both, are fully or partially out of service.

Special Events, Exhibits, Trade Shows, Carnival, Fairs: Event Host Inspection/Permit	A permit and inspection are required at any event expecting greater than 2500 attendees or hosting 11 or more cooking location on site within a single calendar day. All fees must be paid in full, and inspections are scheduled prior to event date. A site plan must be turned into FMO and be approved. *Standby personnel may be required for events.	$100 per 2500 expected attendees within a single calendar day
Special Events, Exhibits, Trade Shows, Carnival, Fairs: Event Vendor Inspection/Permit	Unpermitted Vendor onsite cooking fee (all food trucks operating inside Amarillo city limits are required to have a Fire Marshal inspection) Permitted Vendor onsite cooking fee (existing mobile food unit with current FMO inspection) *Vendor inspections are only required if the hosted event requires inspections/permits based on expected attendees or number of cooking locations	$25 $0
