The City of Amarillo believes in a Human-First approach to technology.

While the City of Amarillo recognizes the immense benefits that digital technologies offer to the community in terms of efficiency, accessibility, and innovation; The City is committed to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and the protection of individual rights in the age of digital transformation. It is for these reasons that Amarillo City Council passed the Digital Dignity, Rights, and Privacy Resolution. The resolution requires staff to implement policy, procedures, and auditing to insure:

  1. Transparency in technology use.
  2. Data Protection.
  3. Ethical guidelines for tecnology and data.
  4. Feedback and engagement with the community.
  5. Digitial participation and civic engagement.
  6. Legal and ethical oversight.
  7. Open sharing of non-sensitive data with the public.

The City of Amarillo is working with the Digital Rights House to help establish the policy and procedures to meet the requirements set forth by council and to assist in auditing the city's ongoing progress. This page will be updated as the effort progresses.

Council will review progress and update the resolution on an annual basis.
