About Drainage Utility

The Drainage Utility Program is a system where residents and businesses pay a fee to help manage the city's drainage infrastructure. This user-fee-based program ensures that all collected funds are dedicated solely to drainage management projects including:

  • Maintaining and improving stormwater systems
  • Repairing and upgrading drainage facilities
  • Preventing flooding

The fee is based on the amount of impervious surface area on a property which affects the amount of stormwater runoff generated. This approach ensures that properties contributing more to stormwater runoff contribute proportionately to the maintenance and improvement of the city's drainage systems, benefiting the entire community by reducing the risk of water-related damage and improving overall water management.
