The City of Amarillo's Economic Development Division, part of the city's Planning Department, works closely with city leaders to boost the local economy. They achieve this by:

  • Offering Incentives to new and existing businesses
  • Collaborating with community partners
  • Identifying opportunities for business growth
  • Attracting new businesses and jobs
  • Fostering job growth and retention
  • Revitalizing downtown and older neighborhoods
  • Expanding the city's tax base

The city's Economic Development Division is overseen by the City of Amarillo and works to create a strong economic environment and is funded through the city.

What is the difference between the City of Amarillo's Economic Development Division and the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation?

The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is a separate, private, non-profit 501(c)6 and Type A corporation, funded through sales tax. The focus of the AEDC is industrial development and job creation.
