Civil administrative hearings for all civil violations are held at the Amarillo Municipal Court on the first Wednesday each month from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. You may contact the City of Amarillo Civil Operations Coordinator at 806-378-4224 or by email with any questions.
Citizens and visitors have other parking options with city-owned surface lots nearby which remain free (with the exception of Hodgetown events that will utilize a portion for paid parking during their events). Please see the below Downtown Parking Map.
Parking Time Limits
On-Street: Parking on the street downtown is timed. You will need to review the signs located on the section of the block where you have parked to ensure that you park in accordance with the time limit for that street block. The time periods range between fifteen (15) minutes to two (2) hours, depending on the which block and street you park on.
Parking Garage: The parking garage located at 600 S. Buchanan is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The current pricing is $4 for every 2 hours, with a max of $11 per 24-hour period with the exception of special pricing for event days. The parking garage is unmanned and only payable via credit or debit card.
Parking Violations
Citations issued for parking in Amarillo are civil with the exception of handicapped space violations and parking in a fire lane. If you are issued a parking citation, you must pay or appear to request a civil administrative hearing within twelve days of receiving the citation. If you are issued a criminal parking violation you should click here to resolve your violation.
Paying Civil Parking Citation
To pay online you may click here. You may also pay in person at the City of Amarillo Municipal Court, 201 Southeast 4th Avenue, Amarillo, Texas 79101 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The civil penalty if paid within 12 days is $25, after 12 days is $50, and after 30 days is $100.
Request a Hearing
To contest a civil violation, you must appear in person or submit a request in writing within twelve days of receiving the citation. If you submit a request and are appointed a time for an administrative hearing you will need to appear as scheduled or at an administrative hearing docket prior to the date and time given.

Vehicle Impoundment
A vehicle may be impounded if it has been the subject of six or more civil nuisance violations within the prior 12 months or has a sum of $300 or more unpaid, past due civil penalties and is again found parked on a public right of way.
The vehicle does not have to be in violation at the time that it is seized. To get an impounded vehicle released, you must come to the Court and pay all fees due and pay the towing company the costs associated with the tow.
