You can request a Deferred Disposition online, by mail/email, or in person at The Municipal Court. If you will be requesting a Deferred Disposition online you must read STEPS 1 – 10 below. If you are requesting a Deferred Disposition by mail/email you must submit a letter to the Judge requesting a Deferred Disposition. The correspondence will be reviewed and paperwork will be sent to you with further instructions.

You are not eligible for a deferred disposition for a traffic offense if you hold a commercial driver’s license or held one at the time of the offense, or for a traffic offense committed in a construction zone with workers present.

Below is a list of requirements to be considered for Deferred Disposition:

1. You have not already paid your violation fine which resulted in a final conviction in this case. If you think this applies to you contact the Court if you still want to request a Deferred Disposition.
2. If you are under age 25 and you want to request Deferred Disposition (probation) then you will be required by the Judge to a take a Drivers Safety Course (as a condition of your Deferred Disposition).
3. You must pay all fines and court costs at time of request.

The deferred period is between 30 and 180 days, depending on the offense, of which you are on probation. Selected offenses are subject to Judges discretion. During the probation period, you must not receive any new citations or charges, and may be required to complete other conditions set by the court, such as community service hours or a driver safety course. If you complete all the requirements, the violation would be dismissed.

• STEP 2: Select Amarillo Municipal Courts
  • Enter your citation or driver’s license number, name and date of birth, or vehicle information
• STEP 3: Select each violation to see what options are available to you and select continue
  • If you have multiple violations, you may be able to defer more than one
  • You may also be able to do one violation deferred and one DSC
• STEP 4: Select CONTINUE TO DEFERRED DISPOSITION
• STEP 5: Select your Plea and select continue
  • No Contest for Deferred
• STEP 6: Print the Agreement
  • READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions and select continue
• STEP 7: Print the Deferred Disposition Application and Conditions Form
• STEP 8: You may upload a copy/photo of your driver’s license at this time
  • You can also wait and mail a copy of your driver’s license in with your completed Deferred Disposition Application and Conditions Form
• STEP 9: Pay your Deferred fee
• STEP 10: TURN IN YOUR COMPLETED DEFERRED DISPOSITION APPLICATION AND CONDITIONS FORM AND COPY OF YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE BEFORE YOUR DEFERRAL PERIOD ENDS.
