Sidewalk repair is a priority in in San Jacinto. San Jacinto Neighborhood Advocates and the City of Amarillo are working on several initiatives including a pilot cost-share program for homeowners and CDBG funded larger-scale improvements in critical pedestrian focus areas.
The first phase of the cost-share program was completed in November 2023 for five homeowners located on S. Carolina, S. Tennessee, S Belleview and NW 3rd Ave. The link below furthers explain the program and policies residents must follow in order to qualify for sidewalk repair.

What is the San Jacinto Sidewalk Cost-Share Program?
The San Jacinto Sidewalk Cost-Share Program is an opportunity for residential property owners within the San Jacinto neighborhood to repair damaged sidewalks and driveway ramps at low or no cost. The program offers up to 100% covered costs for very low income households and a 50% or 75% cost-share along with a repayment plan of 12-18 months for owner-occupied residences. Landlords with three or fewer properties may apply and are eligible for a 25% cost-share.
Why are the San Jacinto Neighborhood Association and the City of Amarillo offering this program?
The San Jacinto neighborhood prioritized sidewalk repair along with other programs and incentives that would increase home ownership in their 2020 neighborhood plan. The program is funded through San Jacinto's allocation of the Proposition #1 bond funding. The neighborhood association is also coordinating tree removal services for large trees in the public right-of-way that are contributing to uneven and damaged sidewalks.

Who is eligible to participate?
If you are a property owner with three (3) or fewer residential properties within the San Jacinto neighborhood plan boundary, you are eligible to participate in the sidewalk cost-share program. SJNA is prioritizing owner-occupied residences in their first round of funding. Commercial properties are not eligible.
