Where can I register to vote?
There are several ways in which a person can register to vote.

1. Complete a voter registration application card from the Texas Secretary of State website. Print, sign, and mail the form to your county election registrar, either:

2. Or you may call the Potter County Voter Registration Office at (806) 379-2299 and they will assist you.

3. Or you may call the Randall County Voter Registration Office at (806) 468-5510 and they will assist you.

4. You may also register to vote by completing a Texas Voter Registration Application. Applications are available at libraries, post offices, and government offices. The application may be mailed to either the Potter or Randall County Voter Registration Offices.

Regardless of which method you use to register, the application must be postmarked 30 days before an election for you to be eligible to vote in that election. For more information, please view A Guide to Voter Registration, at the Texas Secretary of State web site.

What are the qualifications to register to vote?
In order to be eligible to vote, you must:

1. Register to vote in the county in which you reside;
2. Be a citizen of the United States;
3. Be at least 17 years and 10 months of age to register and be 18 years of age by Election Day;
4. Not be convicted of a felony, or if you are a felon, you must have completed all of your punishment, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation, or received a pardon. If you are on “deferred adjudication” or “off paper,” you may register and vote; and
5. If you are registering for the first time by mail, you must provide valid identification that shows your name and address. If you do not provide identification at the time of registration, you will receive a letter requesting proof of identity. Otherwise, you will be required to present such identification when you vote, either in person or by mail.

How do I change my voter registration information?
If you still reside within Potter or Randall County, you can change your voter registration information in the following methods:

1. Submit a change request to your voter registration card online through Texas Online.

2. Download and complete a voter registration application indicating a change in name/address. Mail or fax your change request to either the Potter or Randall County Voter Registration Office.

3. Make a note of the changes to be made in the space provided on the back of your Voter Registration card. Fax or mail your Voter Registration Card to either the Potter or Randall County Voter Registration Office.

How do I request a replacement voter registration card?
You can request a replacement voter registration card in the following methods:

1. Complete a voter registration application card from the Texas Secretary of State Website. Select
“Replacement” and fill out the application online. Print, sign, and mail or fax the application to either the Potter or Randall County Voter Registration Office.

2. Mail or fax a signed written request for a replacement card to either the Potter or Randall County Voter Registration Office.

When does my Voter Registration become effective?
Your voter registration will become effective 30 days after it is received or on your 18th birthday, whichever is later.

What if I don’t receive my voter registration card before the next election?
You can call the Potter County Voter Registration Office at (806) 379-2299 or Randall County Voter Registration Office at (806) 468-5510 to confirm your voter registration status.

Can I vote without a voter registration card?
Yes, you may, but you must have a photo identification and must sign an affidavit as to your residency and voter registration.

Do I have to show photo identification when I vote in person?
Yes. In accordance with Senate Bill 14 (2011), all voters are required to show valid photo identification when voting in person.

What if I don’t have a valid photo identification?
Individuals can obtain a Texas Election Identification Certificate (EIC). For questions or more information regarding the EIC Program, please contact the Potter County Elections Office at (806) 379-2299 or Randall County Elections Office at (806) 468-5510.

How can I vote by mail?
Any eligible voter may vote early in person by going to an early voting location.

You may vote Early by Mail if you are:

1. Going to be out of the County on Election Day and during the Early Voting period;
2. Sick or disabled;
3. 65 years of age or older on Election Day; or
4. Confined in jail, but eligible to vote.

Please read all the instructions, be sure to indicate what election you want to vote in, and be sure to sign the card. The County will verify the information when the application is returned, and mail the ballot to you when they are available.

If I am stationed elsewhere due to military service, how can I vote?
The Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) is a form provided by federal law to permit members of the U.S. armed forces and merchant marines, their dependents and U.S. citizens abroad to vote early by mail and, if necessary, to temporarily register to vote.

You are eligible to vote early with an FPCA if you are qualified to vote in Texas and you are:

• Members of the U.S. armed forces, a spouse or dependents
• Members of the U.S. merchant marines, a spouse or dependents
• A U.S. citizen domiciled in Texas but temporarily living outside the territorial limits of the United States
