July 5, 2023Summary:
The project consists of streetscape improvements to eight blocks of Polk Street bounded by 10th Street on the south and 2nd Street on the north. Improvements will bring block faces up to current Downtown Amarillo Urban Design Standards (DAUDS) and current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. This will include new sidewalks, driveways, storm sewer inlet relocation, lighting, street trees, and site furnishings.

Cost and Funding:
- $4.5 million project approved by voters and Amarillo City Council
- Amarillo City Council unanimously approved the construction bid to Plains Builders in April, 2023
- The project was part of the voter-approved Proposition 1 bond in 2016
