Americans and the Holocaust Opens

Amarillo Public Library is one of only fifty libraries in the country—and the only public library in Texas—chosen to host AMERICANS and the HOLOCAUST.
The traveling exhibition, created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association, examines the motives, pressures, and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war, and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s.  It is based on the special exhibition of the same name at the Museum in Washington, D.C.
AMERICANS and the HOLOCAUST opens to the public on Saturday, September 17, and will be available for viewing through Sunday, October 23.  While the exhibition is in place, Amarillo Public Library will offer a series of lectures and films designed to bring a greater understanding of certain events and themes covered in the exhibit.  There is no charge to attend these events or to view the exhibition.
