Amarillo Landfill FAQs

The landfill is located at 16250 Bezner, Amarillo, TX. Hours vary throughout the year.
November through March: Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm; Sunday closed.
April through October: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 7 pm; Saturday 8 am to 5 pm; Sunday closed.

For residents of Amarillo discarding normal household waste, there is no fee. However, there is a landfill fee for materials resulting from construction or demolition, even for residents. Landfill dumping fees are based on the weight of material delivered for disposal. Non-residents, businesses, landlords, or any non-residential trash also incur landfill fees.

The landfill accepts a variety of items including normal household refuse (paper, plastic, cardboard, kitchen waste), toys, clothing, furniture, hot tubs, fencing, mattresses, tires, and more. Certain items are conditionally accepted, such as refrigerators, freezers, and similar appliances, which must meet specific requirements set by the state. Additionally, organic materials like brush, tree limbs, tree trunks, trimmings, grass, leaves, and cacti are accepted.

Before taking an appliance to the landfill such as a refrigerator, you will need to remove the freon and provide the gate house with the certification of removal. This will ensure the landfill is keeping up with disposal requirements. Some appliances, especially those containing refrigerants like refrigerators, may need special handling. You can call our customer service at (806) 378-6813 specific instructions or items for additional guidelines section on our website.

Construction and demolition debris, remodeling materials, sheetrock, shingles, wood, rock, dirt, brick, concrete, carpet, insulation, non-metal garage doors, PVC pipes, vinyl siding, decking, storage building demolition, and trim are accepted at the landfill with a fee.

Tires cannot be disposed of with regular household waste. You can take them to a designated tire disposal facility, check with local tire retailers. The landfill may accept used tires with a fee but may be limited due to capacity. For more information on tire disposal locations and any associated fees, please visit our website or call (806) 378-6813 for additional details.
