Warrant Overview & FAQs

A warrant may be issued if you:

  • Fail to appear within 12 days of receiving a citation
  • Do not follow a judge’s orders (e.g., payment plan, community service)
  • Do not complete payments as promised

If you fail to appear on or before the 12th day after receiving a citation, the court may:

  1. Issue an arrest warrant
  2. Add a $50 warrant fee to your fine

If you do not complete a payment plan, community service, or other court-ordered requirements, a warrant may be issued for your arrest.

A warrant can be resolved if you plead “no contest” or “guilty” to the warrant charge and pay the fine. Payments require a judge’s approval, and capias warrants (for non-compliance) must be paid in full. If you wish to plead “Not Guilty” after a warrant is issued, you must appear before the Judge to post bond and set a court date.
