When is a Warrant Issued?
A warrant may be issued if you:
- Fail to appear within 12 days of receiving a citation
- Do not follow a judge’s orders (e.g., payment plan, community service)
- Do not complete payments as promised
What is considered a failure to appear?
If you fail to appear on or before the 12th day after receiving a citation, the court may:
- Issue an arrest warrant
- Add a $50 warrant fee to your fine
What is a failure to meet judge's orders?
If you do not complete a payment plan, community service, or other court-ordered requirements, a warrant may be issued for your arrest.
What is the process to resolving a warrant?
A warrant can be resolved if you plead “no contest” or “guilty” to the warrant charge and pay the fine. Payments require a judge’s approval, and capias warrants (for non-compliance) must be paid in full. If you wish to plead “Not Guilty” after a warrant is issued, you must appear before the Judge to post bond and set a court date.
