How can I find out which investigator is assigned to my case?

I just got a telephone call from someone that I think was trying to "scam" me.  What should I do?

Unless you actually lost money or providing identifying details that will allow the "scammer" to access your bank or other other account, you do not need to make a report.  The Police Department does not need the telephone number of the person that called, as the number will not allow us to locate or contact the person involved.  Telephone numbers that show up on your caller ID may not be the actual number or may not be traceable.  If you have concerns or questions, call the Crime Prevention Unit at (806) 378-4257 (weekdays 7:00 am to 4:30 pm).

How can I apply for a permit for door-to sales?

Applications for permits for door to door sales, as regulated by Amarillo Municipal Code Sec. 14-6-55 to 14-6-62, are available at the Amarillo Police Department's service desk on the first floor of the building.  You can download and complete the application from the link below and bring it to the police department or fax it to (806)378-3058.  You will be required to provide identification and any state licenses required by your business (normally alarm or security related) when picking up the permit.  Applications are normally processed within one business day.
