Complaints about Police Service

If you have a complaint concerning police services, including a complaint against an officer, or a complaint alleging racial profiling, you may let us know about your complaint in one of these ways:

  • You may contact the officer’s supervisor by phone. Call 806-378-4231 to speak to a Uniform Division Supervisor.
  • You may make a complaint to the Amarillo Police Department Internal Affairs Investigator in person, by mail, or by phone. The Internal Affairs office is on the 4th floor of the Police Department, 200 SE 3rd, Amarillo TX 79101. Telephone 806-378-4200 or 806-378-5251.
  • You may print off this form and return it to an APD Internal Affairs Investigator either in person or by mail to the address above. This form must be signed in the presence of an officer or notary.

Texas law requires that all complaints against police officers be in writing and signed by the person making the complaint. Filing a false complaint against a police employee is a violation of the Texas Penal Code, Section 37.02. If a person knowingly and intentionally makes a false statement under oath, or swears to the truth of a false statement previously made under oath, a person may be found guilty and punished by a fine up to $4,000, confinement in jail up to one year, or by both fine and imprisonment.
