AECC

The Amarillo Emergency Communications Center is an integrated communications center created in 2008.  It is operated jointly by APD and AFD supervision.  The AECC provides both 911 and routine call intake and dispatch services for the Amarillo Police Department, Amarillo Fire Department, Amarillo Medical Services ambulances, and Animal Management and Welfare. The center is routinely staffed with 10 call takers and dispatchers.

Call takers and dispatchers route calls through a CAD (computer assisted dispatch) system.  The emergency vehicles are are tracked through GPS.  

AECC police functions are part of the Support Services Division.
