Amarillo City Transit’s office is located at 801 S.E. 23rd Avenue and is accessible to all individuals with disabilities, through the main entrance of the building. There is an access ramp located to the left of the main entrance. Parking for individuals with disabilities is available at the main entrance, of the facility. Amarillo City Transit is equipped with accessible restroom facilities. Individuals with disabilities who require special accommodations or a sign language interpreter must contact Amarillo City Transit at 806-378-3095 or the TTY though Texas Relay Services at 7-1-1.
Amarillo City Transit Transfer Station is located at 219 S. Fillmore Street and is accessible to all individuals with disabilities through the two main entrances. Access ramps are located at the southeast and southwest end of the facility along Fillmore Street and at the southeast end of the facility. The transfer station is equipped with accessible restrooms. Individuals with disabilities who require special accommodations must contact Amarillo City Transit at 806-378-3095 or the TTY though Texas Relay Services at 7-1-1.
Amarillo City Transit operates a fixed route service and a demand response curb-to-curb service. All designated bus stops along the fixed route patterns and all fixed route buses are accessible to individuals with disabilities. All fixed route buses are lift-equipped and have two onboard wheelchair securement areas. Five fixed route buses, the El Dorado National buses, are equipped with a kneeling system that lowers the first step of the bus to curb level. Individuals with disabilities preventing them from boarding a fixed route bus by climbing the three twelve inch rise steps may request the driver to board the bus on the wheelchair lift as a standee. All fixed route buses are equipped with an automated stop announcing system that announces major bus stops and major intersections, over an internal speaker and LED scroll sign. The automated stop announcing system announces the route name and number on an external speaker when the front entrance/exit door is opened and announces the points of interest along the fixed route when parked at the transfer station. All fixed route buses are equipped with front and side mounted destination signs. Fixed route bus drivers will provide minimal assistance within Amarillo City Transit policies and procedures to passengers with disabilities upon request.
Amarillo City Transit demand response, Spec-Trans vans are accessible to individuals with disabilities. All Spec-Trans vans are lift-equipped and have three onboard wheelchair securement areas. Spec-Trans van operators will provide minimal assistance within Amarillo City Transit policies and procedures, to passengers with disabilities upon request.
