Typically, STD test results take 7-10 days. The Public Health Department will notify you of your test results and provide any necessary follow-up care or treatment based on the outcome.

It depends on the service provided, anywhere from 5-45 minutes. Public Health staff will give you an estimate when you schedule your appointment.

Wait a minimum of seven days. The Public Health Department recommends regular STD testing for sexually active individuals as part of routine health care.

You can get tested for STDs every 30 days through Public Health services.

Some fees can be waived. Speak with the receptionist at the Public Health clinic when making your appointment. No one will be turned away due to an inability to pay.

Children are not allowed with you during your appointment, and they cannot be left unattended in the Public Health clinic lobby.

Make an appointment to be tested and treated. The Public Health Department provides partner testing and treatment to help prevent the spread of STDs.

Your medicine will be provided at the Public Health clinic after your diagnosis.

No one is allowed in the exam room with you during your Public Health appointment. If someone accompanies you, they may wait in the clinic lobby.

If you have an open sore(s), Public Health staff may be able to test it for herpes. However, blood tests for herpes are not offered.

The Public Health Department encourages you to look out for the following symptoms:

• Abnormal genital or rectal odor, discharge, or bleeding
• Burning sensation while urinating
• Genital or rectal itching
• Painful or swollen testicles
• Genital or rectal sores
  Even without symptoms, you could still have an STD, so regular testing is important.

Seek emergency care if you experience:

• Severe genital or rectal bleeding
• Severe abdominal or testicular pain
• A fever
• A foreign object stuck in your vagina or rectum
  The Public Health clinic can guide you to emergency care if needed.

If you are 13 or older and sexually active, the Public Health clinic can test you for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV. Parental permission is not required if you are under 18.
