NOTICE OF INTENT TO REQUEST RELEASE OF FUNDS

March 24, 2025

On or about April 9, 2025, the City of Amarillo Community Development Department will submit a request to the HUD CPD Region 6 Field Office in Fort Worth, TX, for the release of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) “funds under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, (42 USC5301 et seq.) to undertake a project known as “2024 Sidewalk Improvements” for the purpose of installing and/or replacing existing sidewalks to provide improved pedestrian access within neighborhoods along NW 18th Ave between N. Hughes St. and N. Bonham St., including the alley between Austin St. and Broadway St. in Amarillo, TX 79107, at an estimated funded amount of $426,451.76.

The Environmental Review Record may be examined in person or copied at the Community Development Department, weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Public comment will be accepted in-person through April 8, 2025, at 808 S. Buchanan St., Amarillo, TX 79101. Public Meeting

February 4, 2025

The Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Simms Building, Room 275. Simms is located at 808 S. Buchanan Street. The public is encouraged to attend to provide input regarding the 2023 CAPER and reallocation of emergency repair funding. NOTICE OF INTENT TO REQUEST RELEASE OF FUNDS

December 23, 2024

On or about January 8, 2025, the City of Amarillo Community Development Department will submit a request to the HUD CPD Region 6 Field Office in Fort Worth, TX, for the release of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) “funds under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, (42 USC5301 et seq.) to undertake a project known as “Thompson Memorial Park Inclusive Playground” for the purpose of enhancing an existing public park by adding an all-inclusive playground with equipment that is accessible for individuals with limited mobility or disabilities, at an estimated funded amount of $1,000,000, at 722 NW 24th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79107.

Citizen Participation Guide

Our goals for citizen participation include encouraging engagement in local government, providing opportunities for collaboration, ensuring transparency, and providing City officials with essential information about citizens’ perceptions and priorities. We invite you to be an active participant in shaping the future of our community.

The City of Amarillo has received the following funding allocations for Fiscal Year 2024-2025:

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG): $1,590,799
  • HOME Allocation: $697,926

Applications from local nonprofits and community organizations will be accepted starting April 1, 2024, for the funding period of October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025. Funding is provided through the CDBG entitlement grant from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).

For reference, the allocations for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 were:

  • CDBG: $1,628,247
  • HOME Allocation: $865,228
