The City Secretary, operating under the direction of the City Manager, is responsible for maintaining essential city records and supporting various city processes. Key responsibilities include:
Permanent Records Management
Maintaining all City ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and land files related to City property transactions.
Municipal Elections
Conducting all municipal elections and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
Texas Open Meetings Act Compliance
Overseeing the City’s processes for providing information to requestors in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.
City Council Support
Assisting the Mayor and City Manager in preparing agendas and recording minutes for City Council meetings.
Administrative Assistance
Providing administrative support to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and Assistant City Managers.
Board Member Terms
Tracking board members appointed to serve on City boards and commissions.
Official Document Preparation
Preparing proclamations, resolutions, and other official documents.
Records Management Coordinator
Managing the City’s Records Management Program, including electronic document imaging and ensuring compliance with federal and state record retention laws.
