Guest paratransit user policy

The ADA requires ACT to offer ACT-Connect™; service to all visitors who present one of the following documents to prove eligibility:

  • Documentation from another transit agency of eligibility, such as a determination letter or ID card.
  • A certification by the individual of non-Amarillo residency and a personal statement that they are unable to use fixed route transit when their disability is evident, such as in a wheelchair or use of other mobility device or prosthesis).
  • A certification by the individual of non-Amarillo residency and if the disability is not evident (i.e. cardiac or developmental disability), a statement from a medical professional or service agency of a disability.

The law further requires service to a visitor be available for any combination of 21 days during any 365-day period beginning with the visitor’s first use of the service during such 365-day period. Amarillo residents who are eligible for ACT-Connect™; may take advantage of this when traveling to a location that offers fixed route bus service.

Reservations are accepted the day before travel and up to 7 days in advance. Reservation hours are Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm central time.

About Translations on Amarillo.gov

The City of Amarillo offers translations of content on Amarillo.gov through the Google Translate web translator (translate.google.com). Because Google Translate is an external service, the City does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. As a result, some translations may contain inaccuracies, and there may be issues with the appearance of translated pages, including errors in images.

If you encounter incorrect or substandard translations, you can help improve them by contributing better translations using Google Translate:

  1. Hover over any text containing an error, and a pop-up box will appear.
  2. Click “Contribute a better translation.”
  3. Double-click the area of the pop-up that says “Click a word for alternative translations, or double-click to edit directly.”
  4. Make your edits directly in the text box.
  5. Press “Contribute” to submit your suggested changes.

Please note that the City of Amarillo does not control the process by which contributed translations are incorporated into Google Translate.
