San Jacinto Neighborhood Plan Meeting

Post Date:03/05/2019 4:00 PM

City of Amarillo, in partnership with Potter County, is developing a progressive plan for the San Jacinto neighborhood. The plan is part of the “BluePrint for Amarillo,” a compilation of pillars and city manager initiatives authorized by Amarillo City Council and updated in 2018.

The first San Jacinto Neighborhood Plan meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 at Heal the City, 609 S. Carolina St. The meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Entrance will be at Door No. 3.

City of Amarillo staff will be in attendance for the meeting. In addition, Cassie Wright from Urban Milestones will deliver a introductory presentation and facilitate small group activities to gather feedback and insight.

The focus of the meeting will be to begin the process of identifying goals and policies that will define and shape the future of the San Jacinto neighborhood. The neighborhood plan will include recommendations from residents, property owners and business owners regarding specific improvement projects and policy. Community particpation will be vital in determining what strategies will be effective. City staff will be requesting volunteers for a new advisory committee for the neighborhood plan.

Neighborhood plans are part of a pillar of Amarillo City Council in the “BluePrint for Amarillo,” the strategic direction for city government in terms of focus and allocation of resources.
