Project Description:

The City of Amarillo Water Utilities is replacing water meters throughout the city, to upgrade to digital meters that will operate with the best technology currently available to provide more water use data to the city and its residents. The additional data will help Amarillo improve customer service and provide residents with on-demand access to their water use through an online customer portal (in development).

Funding Information:

The water meter upgrade project is funded from a $29.5 million loan that included a $1 million loan forgiveness through the Texas Water Development Board’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

A four percent rate increase was implemented in 2021 to pay for this loan.
