  • Applications must be submitted a certain number of days before the event to ensure they have enough time to be approved.
    • Block Party: Submit all required documents 14 days before the event.
    • Festival / Parade / Run: Submit all required documents 30 days before the event.

Guidelines for Event Applications

This section outlines the specific application requirements, documentation, and deadlines for different event types.

Block Party Application
  • $30 permit fee (payment methods shown on the application)
  • In Person: Traffic Engineering Department, Simms Municipal Building, 808 S. Buchanan St., Room #242, Amarillo, Texas

  • Note: The Traffic Engineering Department will review your Block Party Application to determine if additional traffic control devices are needed beyond the cones or barricades provided by the applicant.
Festival Application
  • Festival Application: Completed by the event organizer.
  • Petition for Temporary Street Closure: Signatures required from all adjacent property owners.
  • Map of Event Location
  • Traffic Control Plan Map: Contact the Traffic Engineering Department for assistance.
  • Certificate of Liability Insurance: See Ordinance Section 16-3-287(c)(4) for requirements. Must list the City of Amarillo as the Certificate Holder, with event details under Description of Operations. (See Example)
  • Proof of Non-Profit Status: Copy of Federal Form 501(c)(3)
