planning applications & fee details
If your application involves zoning or platting, you must submit it on the days listed in the Schedule for Planning and Zoning Commission Meetings and Application Deadlines. It’s a good idea to contact the Planning Department before applying. We recommend a Pre-Application Conference (PAC) if your development has any aspects that might need further discussion with our review staff. To schedule this, please reach out to the Development Liaison by email at justin.oppel@amarillo.gov.
After you submit your application, Planning Department staff will review it within 2 business days to ensure its complete. If more information is needed, we’ll let you know. The Development Review Committee (DRC) will review your application and plans within ten business days. After their review, the Planning Department will send comments and any necessary revisions. You’ll need to address these comments and submit corrected copies promptly.
For applications that require action by the Planning and Zoning Commission, please return the final plans at least four business days before the scheduled public meeting.
Note: applications can only be submitted according to the Deadline Schedule.

When is notification required to replat?
Notification is required when the replat involves an area that is limited by zoning or deed restrictions to no more than two residential units per lot.
