How do I schedule a curbside (bulk item) pickup?
To schedule pick-up of bulky items such as furniture, mattresses, and large household appliances, please contact Solid Waste at 806-378-6813 or fill out the online Curbside Collection Request form. Ensure items are placed on the curb for pick-up prior to the scheduled date.
How does Curbside Pick-up work, and are there any fees involved?
The services is free to Amarillo residents disposing of bulky household items. To schedule a pick-up, fill out the online Curbside Collection Request form or call 806-378-6813. Once scheduled, place your items on the curb within the designated timeframe. Items will be picked up within 1 to 3 business days of the scheduled date, barring inclement weather or other service delays. Additional fees may apply for construction debris, and tires. You will be notified of any applicable charges during scheduling.
What items may be placed on the curbside for pick-up?
Residents can place various items on the curbside for pick-up, free of charge, including tree limbs, large toys, furniture, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters, mattresses, and other large household items.
Where do I place my bulky items for curbside pick-up?
Place bulky items in the grass near the sidewalk or no more than three feet from the curb, allowing for pedestrian right-of-way. Ensure that items are away from fire hydrants, wires, or any other obstacle that may impede pick-up.
How do I dispose of bulky household items?
Bulky household items should never be placed in the alleyway. Residents can dispose of bulky items by placing them on the curbside for pick-up or dropping them off at the landfill. Curbside pickup and landfill disposal are both free services offered to City of Amarillo residents. The city also offers roll-off location throughout the city for disposal of bulky items.
What items do not qualify for free curbside pickup?
Certain items that are considered construction or demolition debris such as sheetrock, insulation, remodeling materials, garage doors, doors, carpet, trim, toilets, bathtubs, and cabinets incur a cost for pick-up. Construction, remodeling, and demolition debris are accepted at the landfill with a fee.
Is there a fee to drop off items at the Landfill?
This service is free to Amarillo residents. However, those living outside the city limits must pay the landfill based on the weight of the materials. For fee details and other information, please contact the Landfill at 806-359-2056.
