The Finance Department promotes and maintains excellence and efficiency in the accounting, budgeting, and reporting functions of the city. The Finance department is responsible for the administration of the city’s financial activities as described in Article V., Section 27 of the City Charter related to all financial matters.

The Finance Department manages all financial activities of the city; which includes but is not limited to Hotel/Motel Taxes, Motor Vehicle Taxes, Vendor Payments, Unclaimed Property, and Customer Payments.

Vendors can sign up to receive electronic payments instead of paper checks. This service is available only to business vendors with an EIN number.

  3. Use your EIN (business tax ID) number for registration.

All lodging businesses in Amarillo, whether currently operating or about to start, must file monthly Hotel Occupancy Taxes and annual Hotel Occupancy Tax Registration.

The Motor Vehicle Tax is collected on the rental or lease of any motor vehicle that has been rented/leased for 30 days or less.

Unclaimed property includes uncashed checks, deposits, refunds, overpayments, or other transactions creating a credit balance that have not been claimed.
