AMARILLO – Amarillo has a vision for its future – an award-winning vision.
The American Planning Association (APA) Texas Chapter recently announced that the City of Amarillo’s City Plan – Vision 2045 is a recipient of the 2024 Texas Planning Award for Comprehensive Planning.
The APA award recognizes plans that advance the science and art of planning in the state of Texas.
“It is an honor that City Plan – Vision 2045 was recognized with this distinction,” said COA Director of Planning Emily Koller. “The success of City Plan -Vision 2045 is due to the response of the Amarillo community and our residents wanting to have a say in their future and their goals for their city.”
City Plan – Vision 2045 is a comprehensive plan – a tool allowing the city to anticipate and guide future changes effectively with the community’s desires. The plan manages growth, provides predictability for developers, identifies infrastructure needs and gives legal backing to ordinances with input from the community.
City council adopted City Plan – Vision 2045 in June.
