Our dedicated team works with individuals experiencing homelessness to navigate the journey toward stability — from outreach and emergency support to long-term case management.
We meet people where they are, both physically and emotionally, and walk alongside them every step of the way.
Coming Home Services
Coming Home offers a wide range of services designed to meet people where they are and support them on the path to long-term stability. Whether someone is living on the street, in an emergency shelter, or transitioning out of homelessness, our team works alongside each person to provide individualized support grounded in dignity, compassion, and evidence-based practice.
Street Outreach
Our Outreach Team engages individuals who are unsheltered or living in places not meant for human habitation, such as streets, encampments, or vehicles. We offer essential supplies, transportation to shelter, and connections to vital resources like ID assistance, mental health care, and housing services.
Housing Navigation
Housing Navigators assist individuals in locating, applying for, and securing safe, stable housing. They guide clients through the entire process—from completing housing applications to preparing for move-in day.
Case Management & Housing Support Services
Our Case Managers provide ongoing support to clients after they move into housing. Through regular home visits and personalized case plans, we help individuals stabilize, grow, and ultimately achieve self-sufficiency.
Mental Health Initiative
Our Mental Health Case Manager and Peer Support Specialist provide compassionate care to clients experiencing mental illness. We offer intensive case management, crisis intervention, and connection to psychiatric and therapeutic services.
Eligibility & Referrals
Most services are available to individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness, living in a place not meant for habitation, exiting a jail, a hospital, or a shelter without stable housing, or are at-risk of homelessness.

Welcome to Coming Home – Amarillo’s Homeless Outreach and Supportive Housing Program
The Coming Home Program was established by the City of Amarillo in 2018 in response to chronic and unsheltered homelessness. We are a multidisciplinary team of outreach workers, case managers, housing navigators, peer support specialists, and mental health professionals committed to walking with individuals on their path from homelessness to stability. We serve individuals in Amarillo who are:
- experiencing unsheltered or chronic homelessness,
- living in a shelter or places not meant for habitation,
- facing complex barriers such as mental illness, substance use, or justice involvement; and
- in need of coordinated care and housing support.
Our approach is rooted in compassion, dignity, and evidence-based practices. We engage people where they are in shelters, on the streets, and in encampments to build trust and connect them to vital resources, shelter, healthcare, and hope.

Transportation & Access Partnerships
Provides day-by-day local transportation for people with disabilities who are certified with Amarillo City Transit (ACT).
We help eliminate transportation barriers through community partnerships and emergency support. For the remainder of 2025, riders with HMIS IDs can utilize a free bus pass through our Transit Access Partnership. Click here to learn more.

Coming Home is an outreach and supportive housing program initiated by the City of Amarillo Community Development Department in 2018. It serves individuals and families facing homelessness, providing support, resources, and assistance to empower them toward greater wellness and self-sufficiency. Coming Home has grown along with expanding its reach and impact to become a significant resource for the community.
