Why is the City of Amarillo’s Solid Waste division asking residents to place their bulky trash items on the front curb instead of in the alleys next to dumpsters?

The Solid Waste Collection division provides safe and efficient collection of residential and commercial solid waste within the City limits. Because of the potential hazards in alleyways including overhead power lines, trees, fences, gas lines, and other obstacles, it is neither safe nor efficient to continue providing bulky trash pick-up from alleys. Should you have items too large to fit into the dumpster, call (806) 378-6813 to schedule a pick-up.

How long does curbside pick-up take?

Typically, after you call the Solid Waste Collection division at (806) 378-6813 they will be able to pick up your bulky waste from the curbside within 24 hours, dependent upon normal working times and days.

Where do I place my bulky items?

If you do not have a sidewalk, place your items no more than three feet from the curb. If you have a sidewalk, place it in the grass near the sidewalk allowing for pedestrian right-of-way. Please ensure that all items are away from fire hydrants, wires, or any other obstacle that may impede the Solid Waste Collection division from picking up your items.
