Community Development Advisory Committee

Administered by the Community Development Department; eleven committee members; meetings on the second Tuesday during various months at 7:00 PM in the Downtown Library, 413 East 4th Avenue. The CDAC is responsible for overseeing all Community Development activities. Members are appointed by geographic representation based on the member’s residence. The roles of the committee are (1) to act in an advisory role to the City Commission in policy decisions related to the Community Development Block Grant and other related HUD programs, (2) to coordinate citizen participation, and (3) to review and make recommendations to the City Commission on allocations of CDBG and related funding. More specifically, the CDAC makes independent decisions related to the following:

1) Adopt operating policies and procedures for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) and Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) projects. The committee must conduct at least one public hearing.

2) Satisfy the federal requirements for community-wide participation and consultation with agencies and organizations in the planning and development of the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development as well as the Public Housing Agency Annual Plan.

3) Evaluate the performance of CDBG, HOME, and ESG activities. The committee must conduct at least one public hearing on performance and evaluation.
