The Capital Projects and Development Engineering Department operates under the Public Works Division and provides construction surveying, design, contract administration, and inspection of projects throughout the City. These services are provided for street improvements, drainage improvements and projects for other City infrastructure funded through the City Capital Improvement Program.
CP&D Engineering Department houses public records for City and State project plans, paving, base maps and aerial photographs. The Engineering Department administers the ordinances regulating public right of way to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system.
The CP&D Engineering Department oversees the regulations for storm sewers and stormwater management established by the city, including records of existing facilities.
The Capital Projects and Development (CP&D) Engineering department mission is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Amarillo and its extra territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) by ensuring the use of sound engineering design principles and compliance with applicable laws and regulations for the planning, design and construction of public infrastructure.
