Amarillo, TX – Following the success of a pilot program last fall, the City of Amarillo is pleased to announce its second Citizen’s Academy – Amarillo 101. Applications are currently being accepted for the program, which begins Thursday, March 21.

In addition to classroom settings, Amarillo 101 will feature tours of several City departments as well as three field days. One field day will be to the City’s Service Center where participants will get a chance to operate a variety of heavy equipment used on a daily basis throughout the City. A second field day will highlight the City’s Water Treatment and Distribution operations. The final field day will take place at the Fire Training Center, where various public safety and airport equipment will be available for demonstration and operation.

By the end of the program, participants will have gained a new appreciation for their City, the complexity of the City’s operations, and the multitude of services the City provides its citizens.
