Pierce Street Closes for Overlay Maintenance – UPDATED

Posted on Sep 19, 2017

UPDATE:

After receiving questions from the community, the Capital Projects and Development Engineering (CPDE) department would like to add some clarifying information related to the currently ongoing Pierce Street construction.

Pierce Street in downtown Amarillo is currently closed between 5th and 7th avenues for pavement milling and overlay operations. Southbound traffic on Pierce Street will detour at 4th Avenue to Taylor Street. Southbound local and business traffic should use the right-hand lane of Pierce Street to access 5th Avenue, the Globe-News Center, and Herring Bank. Additionally, east-to-west access from 4th, 5th, and 6th avenues may be utilized to gain access to businesses in the area.

As always, the City and its contractor would like to thank residents, businesses, and motorists in advance for their patience and understanding. For more information or questions concerning this project, please call CPDE at (806) 378-9334.
