AAM&W Microchipping Event a Success

Posted on Jul 07, 2017

Amarillo, TX – During the Independence Day weekend, Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare (AAM&W) assisted more than 400 residents from 13 different jurisdictions microchip their pets to help reclaim rates. However, many pets in the Amarillo area were lost-and-found by AAM&W and are currently housed in the City’s shelter, awaiting their families to reclaim them.

“AAM&W continues to offer microchipping services as it remains the best way to ensure you and your pet are reunited in the unfortunate event they become lost,” says AAM&W Director Richard Havens. “We would like to encourage all who are looking for their pets to use every tool available to them but to remember that the best way to know if your pet is in the City’s care is to stop by the shelter during normal business hours.”

If the fireworks and excitement of this past holiday scared your pets into escaping their enclosure, remember the City has an online search tool to reunite lost pets with their owners at http://bit.ly/AAMWSearchTool. The shelter, located at 3501 S. Osage St., is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
