Adopted Animals Need Temporary Fosters Before Transport

Posted on Jun 14, 2017

Amarillo, TX – Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare (AAM&W) and the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society are in need of temporary foster homes for animals in the shelter. These lucky animals have homes waiting in other states but the transports won’t occur for one to three weeks.

This is a chance for the public to make a substantial impact with only a short-term commitment. The Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society networked these animals for them to have a fighting chance outside the Amarillo community. Fosters who commit themselves to these animals for this short time period will also help AAM&W lower the facility’s population which in turn allows more animals in need to be housed at the City’s shelter.

If you are interested in acting as a temporary foster, please contact the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society at (806) 373-1716. Visit to see a listing of animals currently at the City’s shelter, or visit them in person at 3501 S. Osage. The shelter is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
