Amarillo, TX – The Amarillo City Council has conducted an extensive and thorough search for a city manager, and has completed a comprehensive interview process of five extraordinarily qualified candidates. After several days of consideration, including focused deliberations in executive session, the City Council has directed the search consultant, Strategic Government Resources (SGR), and the city attorney to discuss terms of employment with Jared Miller. The City Council has been advised that those negotiations have been successfully concluded and Miller is the final candidate. The negotiated contract will be voted on at the next regular meeting of the City Council for final approval.
Miller is currently the city manager for the City of San Marcos. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Texas Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Abilene Christian University. Miller is a past member of the board of directors for the Texas City Management Association, past president of the West Texas City Management Association (TCMA Region #2), and is a member of the International City Management Association.
Miller will begin acting as the City of Amarillo’s city manager on or before Feb. 20, 2017, depending on City Council action during their regularly scheduled meeting Jan. 17, 2017.
